Although garden plots have been steadily shrinking over recent years in many Melbourne suburbs, there is also a growing interest in organic gardening and especially in growing food. Reflecting this interest, quite a few community gardens are flourishing around the city, providing places where individuals and families can come and connect with the soil...and the food that they eat.

Have you ever visited a community garden? Are there any near to where you live? In your opinion what's the best community garden in Melbourne?

When we visited Melbourne we found a community garden near Luna Park in St Kilda. I'm not sure what it was called, but it was just lovely and we spent a few hours wandering around the gardens and various plots.
Sounds lovely. I'm always amazed where community gardens pop up. Just goes to show that not much room is needed to start a garden.
The first place that comes to mind is the Veg Out St Kilda Community Gardens Inc, an organic community garden located in St Kilda. Docklands Community Garden is another excellent place to get your hands dirty.
These places sound amazing so I'll definitely have to check them out. It's awesome that they're being established in inner-city Melbourne...maybe the start of a green revolution?
