A great day out for the whole family, agricultural shows have been popular with Australians for almost two hundred years. While the big city events attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, smaller country shows are also loads of fun as they are closer to the event's agricultural origins, are full of country charm and are much more affordable.
Have you ever been to a country show in Victoria, and if so, where? Did you do a day trip, a weekend getaway or were you living in the country at the time? How did the cost compare to a day at the Melbourne Show? In a nutshell, what is your favourite Victorian country show and why?
I have been to lots of country shows as they usually are more interesting than the big city ones. Last year we went to the Red Hill Show in Red Hill (Morningont Peninsula) and thought it was a great little country show. There is lots of room for kids to just run and even a playground if looking at whats on offer becomes too much for them. Be prepared for the huge amount of traffic though.
