Do you think there is a shortage of housing in Melbourne, and do you agree that building highrises can serve as a solution? Or do you think highrises only add to the problem by making one area more prone to population increase thereby affecting the services in that area?
I think highrises are a good solution, but they are a type of a quick fix to a bigger problem. There are quite a few things that can go wrong with building apartment highrises. It can add to the "ugliness" factor of a city. It adds a lot of people in a small amount of area, which can add burden to the services in that city. The noise factor is another thing to consider, because with people there will be noise and traffic. So it's something that needs to be considered on many levels.
