The Victorian goldrushes of the nineteenth century yielded thousands of pounds of gold, and even today many people declare that it's still possible to discover gold in certain locales.

While metal-detectors are popular with modern prospectors, some people still prefer to search for alluvial gold the old-fashioned way, by panning for it. Have you ever tried gold-panning? If so, did you find any gold?

Actually yes, but not in Melbourne, or Australia for matter. There are places in Canada where you can pan for gold, mostly in Alberta and the Yukon as tourist attraction, but you can do it.
