It's cheaper for us seniors, just to use our Myki cards, to go where we want to go.
Sydney has a few different ones I think; hop on, hop off buses, but we can travel all day long & go anywhere, for $2.50, but it's a good deal for o's visitors as Finy points out.

Yes this is something I did once when I was with a friend who had not been to Melbourne before.

It is very convenient however we ended up renting a car anyway as this is far more convenient.

It is a good idea especially for overseas visitors and those who would have a problem driving on the other side of the road to what they are used to.

I think this sort of thing is now in many cities but the Melbourne one covered the Casino, Stadium, Lygon Street, Fitzroy Gardens -can't think where else it went but it went to a lot of the main tourist areas.
