With its fabulous high-end boutiques, colourful markets and flourishing arts scene, Melbourne is famous throughout Australia and the world as a fabulous shopping destination. However, it's the city's unique laneways and exquisite Victorian-era arcades that many people, locals and visitors alike, consider to be Melbourne's most unique shopping destinations.

In your opinion, what is Melbourne's most beautiful arcade? What is your favourite local laneway? Why do you consider them to be so, and what makes them so iconic?
I love beautiful architecture, so I'd have to say that old Victorian arcades such as the Royal , Cathedral and Block Arcades would take my vote. As far as the laneways go, they're quirky and interesting but don't have nearly as much appeal for me.
