It's near impossible to get a bad coffee in Melbourne. Any cafe that has a Barrister and an espresso machine is likely to serve you a very good coffee.
Oh yes...I have to say I had a coffee at the Cafe by the Best Western Buckingham....it was a VERY good cup of coffee.
Apte cafe in Alphington might be out of the way, but their coffee is extremely drinkable. They serve a selection of cakes and muffins, and have a comprehensive, tasty menu. The cafe has a great atmosphere - large tables to spread the Sunday paper across. There's also an outdoor area.
