The food is always yummy and the staff are always friendly

Two Fat Indians - Wellington Parade, East Melbourne.
Cinnamon Club in Cheltenham serves great Indian buffets at an affordable price, around $23-$28 per head.
"Indian Delight" next to Forest Hill Chase. Good food at great price.

I can't believe no one has suggested Classic Curry Company yet -- my boyfriend is a fiend for Indian food and he swears by that restaurant. It's one block north of the Vic Market on Elizabeth Street, and serves $10 vegetarian meals and $11 meat meals. Including rice.
The best I've had is at Gaylord Indian Restaurant, Tattersalls Lane.
Don't be fooled by its name; this place serves some really delicious food.
