With Spring and Summer seasons looming around the corner, everyone is getting ready to go out and making the most of the splendid sunshine. One of the many exciting features that can be found in Melbourne parks are free gas BBQs in picnic spots.

What are some of your favourite picnic and BBQ spots and why did you pick this (or these) places?

I live in the East and one of the biggest and most beautiful parks around the area is Ruffey Lake Park in Doncaster. There's a nice large playground for the kids and a fair few barbeque stoves for people who have brought along some sausage to sizzle! People are very friendly, it's a dog friendly park and is also used as the gathering place for christmas carols and new years eve celebrations.
One of my favourite places to go for a picnic and BBQ is on the banks of Yarra River across the Royal Botanic Garden on a sunny day.
I think North Eltham picnic area is the best, along wattletree rd next to edendale farm, great playground for kids, field to kick the footy, beautiful walks, plus the farm to visit.
Gumbaya Park located at 2705 Princes Hwy, Tynong is a great family destination for picnic, kid's activities, chair lifts and exotic birds.
Albert park, Flagstaf garden is the best place for the picnic.
