Melbourne can get very cold during the winter, and some suburbs even manage to get a sprinkling or more of snow. This can be magical for children, and many families like to give their little ones the chance to see it and even play in it when this happens.

Where are the best places in Melbourne, and nearby, to see snow? Does it snow there regularly, or just a few times every winter? If it snows, does it get very deep?

What are your family's favourite snow spots?

We visited Mt Buller a few years ago and it was great. A long drive to get there, but worth it.
Sounds lovely, and not too far away.
I've heard that it snows a few times each year up the Dandenong Ranges, and over the years there have even been cases of it snowing in the Melbourne suburbs.
This is my 1st winter in Melbourne and really looking forward towards a trip to Mt. Buller. I am sure its going to be exciting
I've heard it's beautiful up there! Hope you have heaps of fun in the snow...
Mt Buller is the obvious choice. Mt Bawbaw is another good option.
